Community Resilience & Outreach

At HeakeSpeak, we believe that building the resilience of our most vulnerable communities starts with equity, inclusion, and community engagement. Our Community Resilience and Outreach programs equip communities, particularly underserved communities, with the tools, knowledge, and resources needed to prepare for, respond to, and recover from challenges, shocks, and stresses.

We specialize in:

Accessible Disaster Preparedness

We create accessible, easy-to-read, and culturally relevant preparedness materials that meet the needs of people with disabilities, older adults, individuals who do not speak English, and other historically underserved communities that are excluded from customary emergency planning efforts.

Community Engagement & Training

HeakeSpeak partners with local organizations, first responders, and community leaders to co-create inclusive workshops, build local capacity, and foster community-based solutions that prioritize accessible literacy and practical readiness for real-world challenges.

Equity-Focused Resilience Planning

We work with municipalities, agencies, and nonprofits to co-create community resilience plans that include the needs of underrepresented communities, through outreach, assessments, and planning to ensure no one is left behind.

Through our crowdmapping initiatives, accessibility-driven training, and community planning, HeakeSpeak helps communities move from surviving to thriving by fostering connections, preparedness, and mutual understanding.
