HeakeSpeak is more than a project—it’s a community-powered movement focused on accessibility, inclusive technology, and community resilience. As we grow toward nonprofit status, we are inviting experienced volunteers, practitioners, and lived-experience leaders to serve in an Advisory Board–style role and help guide this work forward.

This is not about titles or prestige. It’s about showing up, sharing knowledge, and helping ensure HeakeSpeak reflects the real needs of the communities we serve.

Who We’re Hoping to Learn From

We are especially interested in hearing from volunteers with experience or insight in:

  • Accessibility & Disability Inclusion (digital, physical, policy, lived experience)

  • Emergency Management, Community Preparedness, and Disaster Response

  • Instructional Design, Training, or Technical Communication

  • Technology, Data, Mapping, or Digital Equity

  • Community Organizing, Advocacy, or Public Service

What Advisory Volunteers Contribute

Advisory volunteers help HeakeSpeak:

  • Think critically about accessibility, ethics, and real-world impact

  • Identify gaps, risks, and opportunities as projects evolve

  • Offer feedback on tools like the Community Reporting Tool

  • Strengthen partnerships and community trust

  • Keep the work grounded, accountable, and inclusive

Participation is flexible and respectful of time—input may include occasional meetings, document review, strategic feedback, or informal consultation.
